​West African Governments trust Skipper for Electrical Solutions

Skipper has been commended again by key stakeholders in West African Governments for the quality of electrical products as well as its strong EPC capabilities.
A team from Federal Minister of Power, Nigeria and Transmission company of Nigeria led by Mrs. Sapke Briskilla Ibrahim, Director (Distribution) visited Skipper factory in Bhiwadi, India on 5th & 6th July, 2017 for Factory Acceptance Test. It was a successful FAT on Skipper made Products.
Engr. Dahiru Isyaku, TCN during his visit said, ” Skipper is growing strength to strength. The new factory is very clean and provides conducive environment for dedicated personnel to operate.

With EHV Transformer manufacturing, Skipper is ready to compete other transformer manufacturers globally. The human resource is highly competent.” Skipper Nigeria has already completed its previous order of 2X60MVA, 132/33kV for the connection of Gurara Hydro Power Project to Kaduna State Industrial area and now is providing the balance material against the variation order. In domestic front, one of the most progressive utility Gujarat Energy Transmission Corporation Ltd. has awarded Skipperseil with vender development order for 500MVA, 400/220/33kV Transformer on the basis of State of art manufacturing facility at Bhiwadi factory. With this, Skipper has entered into the frontier of Extra High Voltage Power Transformers manufacturing.

Skipper celebrates 31st Annual Day

Skipper celebrated its 31st Annual day on May 27 at Le Foyer Banquets, Gurgaon. All Skipperites and their families enjoyed socializing, entertainment and relaxed.

This year the event theme was ‘Mela’, and hence was named as ‘Skipper Carnival’ to suit the theme. The entire event was planned and organized by Skipper team itself. The venue was converted to Indian carnival with lots of games like Hoopla, Break the Pyramid; Balloon shooting’, Bowling, Tambola and Mehandi along with Rides like Giant wheel, Columbus and Bouncy were there for everyone.

The Guests, Skipperites and many of Skipper alumni along with their families, indulged in several games and sporting events, before the onset of the main program, which began with funny performance by Skipperites followed by a dance performance by their children. ​

Group President- Mr. Jitender Sachdeva in his welcome address mentioned the major milestones achieved in last 31 years and expressed thanks to all the employees & stakeholders for being part of Skipper’s successful story.

Skipper successfully commissioned its First 220kv GIS Substation of JICA HVPNL Project

SkipperSeil Limited was awarded greenfield EPC project of 220/66kV, 2x160MVA GIS substation by HVPNL in Sector 33, Gurugram, Haryana. Substation has been successfully commissioned right on 27th May 2017 Coinciding with Skipper’s annual day celebrations. It has 5 bays of 220kV and 9 bays of 66kV along with 2X160MVA, 220/66kV Power Transformers. The newly built 220kv Grid substation will increase the transmission capacity in Gurgaon city and will ensure uninterrupted power supply to the consumers.

Gas Insulated Substation (GIS) compared to the Air Insulated one’s gives the advantage of housing the entire substation equipment indoor, which eases the task of regular inspection, repair and maintenance. Another big advantage is space saving & its easy compatibility with the Supervisory Control And Data Acquisition (SCADA) for monitoring, control and data communication.

SkipperSeil Limited won the prestigious Export Excellence award, presented by Engineering Export Promotion Council of India(EEPC). Skipper was rated star performer in the product group ” Electric Motors, Generators and Transformers and Parts”. Through the Export Excellence Awards, EEPC India makes a humble effort to recognize and award its member exporters for their outstanding performance in different engineering export categories.
​The award was presented on April 19, 2017 by H.E. Mr Milan Hovorka, Ambassador of Czech Republic to India to Ms. Poonam Sachdeva, Director and Mr. Praveen Gupta, President- Finance at Hyatt Regency, Bhikaji Kama Place, New Delhi.​

Skipper’s Day Out at Botanix Resorts, Sohna

Picnics are the best way to bond with family and friends. This time our picnic was planned at Botanix Gardens, Sohna.  The resort was really a nature lover’s paradise in the backdrop of lush green fields and whispering winds with lots of activities like Pottery, Cricket, Football, Camel/Bullock Ride and adventure activities like Burma Bridge, Zorbing, Tug of war, Spider net and finally a dip in the pool. Many colleagues came with their family and friends and spent quality time in the lap of the nature.
 
 
“There are a lot of ways we can make our employee’s lives better,” said Poonam Sachdeva, Jt. Group President, SkipperSeil Group. “But a picnic not only provides an opportunity to have fun, it also offers a chance to socialize and meet the family members of colleagues.
The day was packed with lots of games, activities and food.  The entire day was truly eventful and when we returned in the evening, the happy faces said it all!

 

 

High Level Del​e​gation attends formal commissioning of 500 MVA / 765kV EHV Power Transformer plant in Bhiwadi

Under the patronage of Aljhaji Aliko Dangote, Chairman Dangote Group, Nigeria, State Governors from Nigeria, Minister of State for power along with MD’s of TCN, NAPTIN, REA, NDPHC and more than 80 Engineers up to Directors level from Ministry of Power & Private Sector, Minister of State Power from Ghana along with his MDs inaugurated Skipper’s new EHV manufacturing facility in Bhiwadi, India on 27th August, 2016 marking a significant milestone in the company’s 3 decades-long history. The delegation also included Acting High Commissioner, Nigeria, Senior Members of the Mission, dignitaries from India High Commission in Nigeria, Ministry of foreign Affairs, Ministry of Agriculture in India, Indian Exim Bank, Power Grid and BHEL.

It was a day of great pride for Skipper to have the honour and privilege of extending a very warm welcome to esteemed Delegates on Commissioning of 500 MVA / 765kV EHV Power Transformer plant in Bhiwadi. The Group President, Mr. Jitender Sachdeva said “We have seen our manufacturing levels increase dramatically year-on-year and this is why we needed to build a facility fit for future expansion plans”. Skipper staff gave the visitors a guided tour inside the factory where they got a glimpse of the state of the art manufacturing facilities. On the side lines of the Inauguration of new Unit of manufacturing Extra high Voltage Transformers, Skipper had arranged a Symposium on “Condition Monitoring of Transformers, Sub-Stations, Distribution and Transmission Networks”. Several eminent experts in the Industry Mr. M. VijayaKumaran, Technical Expert, Mr. Akin Ozkutan, General Manager, Cargil, Mr. C Chitnis, Head-Consumer Engineering, Network Planning and Distribution Automation, The Tata Power Company Ltd, Mr. R Nagarajan, Head Technical, CTR, Mr. Sameer Gaikwad, MD of India Operation, Goble Engineering Corporation, Mr. P. Subramanian, COO, GTA Engineering Nigeria Ltd. were invited to present their Papers in the Seminar, titled, COMTRANS-2016. The Seminar was held in the Ball Room of The Oberoi Hotel, Gurgaon at 6:00PM on 26th August 2016. The seminar was greatly appreciated by the stalwarts of Power Industry from Nigeria, Ghana and India who attended in large number. Skipper was formally incorporated in 1986 with its first Power Transformer Manufacturing Plant in India. Today, Skipper owns and operates 5 manufacturing facilities in India and Nigeria and more than 10 regional offices in India, Nigeria, UAE, Ghana, Kenya and other West African counties. The opening of the new manufacturing Plant marks another important milestone in the history of Skipper. This investment shows the clear commitment of Skipper to the growing needs in Power Sector. Successful completion of World-Bank funded Project for GEDAP, Ghana.

Skipper is pleased to announce the successful completion of World-Bank funded Project for GEDAP, Ghana. The contract scope was to Design, Manufacture Supply, Installation, testing and commissioning of equipment, expansion and reinforcement of existing eleven nos. ECG Primary substations in the Greater Accra, Ashanti and Western Regions of Ghana.
Substation upgrade works at Dansoman, Ofankor, Ashiaman, Kumasi-Airport (C)
Kumasi-KNUST (F), Kumasi-Neoplan (D), Daboase and Inchaban have been successfully completed by Skipper as per the scope of contract.

Skipper India wins the Quality Mark Trust Award 2016

SkipperSeil Ltd won the Quality award for outstanding performance in Electrical Equipment segment. The award was given by Quality Mark Trust, one of India’s leading Certification Agencies in India at YMCA International center, Ahmedabad on 27th May, 2016.

Skipper reaches out to local Nigerian communities with Healthcare initiative

As a global leader, Skipper drives​ positive change for all our stakeholders. By making different aspects of our business sustainable, we re-affirm our commitment to conduct our business consciously and responsibly.
Under our ​Corporate ​Social Responsibility program this year, Skipper reached out to the village communities in Nigeria to provide basic healthcare facilities at the​ir​ doorstep and provided free medicines and medicated ​mosquito nets. Under this programme, Skipper conducted two health camps at  Zaria (Kaduna State) and Tiga (Kano State).​

The first health camp for the people of Zaria in Kaduna State​ was held​ on 2​nd September​ 2015 at the Government Hospital Zaria. A team of ​two​ government​ doctors and four​ nurses conducted th​is camp and gave expert consultation, medicine and handed over medicated​ mosquito nets to more than 300 ​beneficiaries. The camp was visited by the representative of the Emir of Zaria. In addition, local religious leaders and government officials also visited the camp.

The second health camp was conducted in​ Tiga Village​ (​Kano)​on 5th​ September 2015, at the Government Hospital Tiga​. As in Zaria, a team of four​ government doctors and ​eight nurses conducted the Camp. The no​. of beneficiaries in the Tiga Health Camp was more than 700. ​The Dignitaries visiting the Camp included, His Excellency ​Governor of Kano State, Secretary to State Government, ​Health Commissioner, DG – Media & Communication, Director – Medical Services and ​many senior government official and religious leaders. We are proud to have been recognized by the Kano State Governor as the first ​company to have thought for the local communities of Kano and ​taken up​ community development initiatives in the state.
